Hello kittens! Today I want to share with you a fun little Christmas craft that I made. It’s a cute Christmas Wreath! I was in need of one and didn’t want to spend anymore money this month on decor, so I went through my craft supplies and made one out of floral wire and book pages. Don’t feel you have to use just wire for this, you can totally go buy a wreath circle from the craft store if you want. So without further ado: A Christmas Wreath DIY!
All you need/all I had (hehe):
- Wire (I used green floral wire)
- Book pages
- Wire cutters
- Bow (optional, but is a super cute touch)
I began by connecting two pieces of floral wire to make a circle. Feel free to make it as big or as small as you’d like.
Then I grabbed another two and wound it around the circle for added thickness. Again, feel free to continue this step until you have your desired thickness.
Next you will need some sort of paper to cut the leaves out of, I went for book pages to add a bit of “texture.”
Free hand or use a leaf template to cut out your leaves. I started with 36 leaves, but ended up having to cut 18 more. Making it a total of 54 leaves! Whew!
Place the leaves around your circle to see how you want to arrange them. I went for three for each “layer.”
Next you will need some wire cutters.
Cut about 2.5 inches in length of wire for each leaf. It’s a cute stem! :)
Using scotch tape, attach your stem to the back of the leaf.
Now for the fun part! Begin arranging each leaf onto the circle/base. Using the stem, twist it around the base to secure it.
Continue securing them leaves! (this was the point where I realized I didn’t make enough leaves to go all the way around, so I had to make 18 more leaves…whew).
I grabbed a red bow from the Christmas tree to add a little something something to it.
Here it is hung up next to the banner I made out of the leftover gold glittery paper from the Casino Sign. This is also a sneak peek of the Christmas decor that I will be posting about on Monday. So stay tuned for that pretty post. :) (psst…here it is!)
I think it turned out pretty darn cute. Don’t you think? Have you been making your decorations this year? I’d love to hear/see them!
Peace + love, Jaclyn
