Hello kitty cats! I am here with another Creative Folks post. This time it is my long time friend, Becky. I have known this girl since Middle School and every time we get together it is full of giggles and good times. She has been there for me through tough times in my life and I am forever thankful. She is an amazing teacher and wife and I am so pleased to have her here on the blog today. Welcome Becky!
Below is a photo collage of Becky, her husband and myself at the past 3 years of Murder Mystery Parties. We like to throw parties. :)
What is the first significant thing you did this morning?
I went to the gym. While this may sound pretty vanilla, a healthy and strong body is quite important to me.
What inspires you? When are you happiest?
People and their stories inspire me (whether fictional or real). Stories connect us in unimaginable ways, and help us understand the world around us. Discussing these fictional or real stories and people with students and friends is my happiness.
What are you trying to teach yourself right now?
German! I am visiting Europe next summer and desperately want to get around (mostly) by myself. Neue Sprachen sind gut!
What is your favorite memory and what does it say about you?
One of my favorite memories is playing hide-and-seek as a child at dusk with my friends. There was something so lovely about that night – the fireflies, the cicadas, the laughter, the murmur of our parents. I think even my child-self recognized the simple beauty of the world around me.
Describe one accomplishment you’ve achieved. Describe one challenge that you have faced.
This spring I won the USD 259 Distinguished Classroom Teacher award at the secondary level. Teaching is a hard profession, and it’s always reassuring to know that I’m doing something fruitful with those young minds. My biggest challenge in life is balance. I struggle to find a way to keep my personal life separate from my work life.
What is the last thing you did for work?
Speaking of work! J and I just finished grading 120+ quizzes over sentence structures. Next up: vocabulary and ancient Greek drama!
And just for fun, what animal would you like to experience being for a day?
A baby elephant! They are so adorable and curious. I would LOVE to be so adorable, wrinkly, grey, and curious for just one day. (Honestly, when has anyone ever described something grey and wrinkly as adorable?!)
Thank you again Becky! You rock!
