Hello kitty cats! You ready for Valentine’s Day this weekend? I know I am, because I’ll be in Portland!!! Wohoo!! T and I are taking a fun trip with two of our friends for the weekend and I am beyond stoked! Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing photos on my Instagram as well as blogging about it when I get back. :) But onto what today’s post is all about….Galentine’s Day! If you haven’t heard, Leslie Knope of the tv show, Parks & Rec, came up with the idea of Ladies Celebrating Ladies and last year I decided to throw my first Galentine’s Day tea party. I continued the tradition this year with my gals and we had a blast. We sipped on tea, ate delicious vegan food (not all was vegan, but most was!), made DIY tea cup candles, played Elevenses, and of course took silly photo booth photos.
Each gal brought some yummy food for us to eat with our tea.
T was a doll and ran to get some fresh flowers to freshen up the room. These are so pretty! I’m thinking I’ll have to press them like I did with last year’s flowers.
Karen’s cute cake holder.
With the most adorable heart shaped cake ever!!!
I decorate with flowers, lace, books, pearls and these fun games!
Best tea ever!
A fun DIY that Karen and I did for the girls was make our own tea cup candles!
It was pretty easy to do. I bought candles at Goodwill, the wicks off of amazon, and I already had the tea cups. Karen brought over her two pots to double boil and we got to cookin’! I think they turned out wonderfully. We also added some lavender and wintergreen oil to some of them to make them smell yummier.
While we were in the kitchen, the other gals played this adorable card game, Elevenses. In this game you are a 1920s socialite who’s trying to make the best tea cart spread and win the most sugar cubes! It’s adorable and everyone enjoyed it. And Becky won!
Even LeeLoo wanted to join in on the festivities!
Can’t have a party without some sort of photobooth!
Sidenote: Karen MADE her dress for this party. The petty coat was from her wedding dress and she sewed up the rest. Talk about baller!! Karen, you are amazing with your sewing skills.
We started out cute and proper with our pinkies out.
Did a little cheers and balancing of tea cups on our head (well, Becky and Caitlin did!).
Then we got silly.
I love each of these girls so much. Some I have been friends with since we were kids, others are only in the past few years, but each of them holds a special place in my heart and I am glad they love being a part of my life and my parties. :)
I made each of the ladies an art print with the words, “Champion of Ladydom” Wise words by the one and only Leslie Knope. hehe.
And two of the girls couldn’t make it to the party, but I made them one too.
Oh, hello LeeLoo and Posy!
Before the gals left we snipped the candle wick, lit them and said our goodbyes for the day.
After they all left, I cleaned up and took more photos of the flowers and tea cup candles.
All in all, another spectacular Galentine’s Day celebrated a week early. :) Thank you my lady friends for coming over dressed so cutely and hanging out with this crazy cat lady. I love you all very much!
Will you be throwing/attending a Galentine’s Day party this weekend?
Peach + love, Jaclyn
