This past weekend I found out that one of my favorite tv shows as a kid, Lizzie McGuire, was on the Disney site and I instantly watched an episode. And boy did it bring back a lot of memories and give me some good laughs. Which is what I needed after a blog post I wrote on Friday about getting out of the photography business. It was a difficult decision to make since I love photography very much (and don’t worry, I’ll still be learning and getting better at photography, but this time it’s just for fun). Bringing it back to Lizzie McGuire, as I heard the intro music begin I immediately started belting out the lyrics and it struck a chord with me.
“if you believe
that we’ve got a picture perfect plan
we’ve got you fooled
cause’ we only do the best we can
and sometimes we make it
sometimes we fake it
and we get one step closer each and every day
we can figure it out our own way"
I realized that I had been “faking it” to others that my photography business was a-okay when it wasn’t. I came to realize that I wasn’t made to be a photography business owner. I was made to be an artist who just loved to create for the sake of creating. And this blog, Lovely to meet you, is a perfect place for me to do just that and share it with you.
I also realized how many people support me in whatever I do. I read some really sweet comments, e-mails, and text messages from my friends and family about how they were sad I was leaving the photo biz (me too!), but they were excited to see what’s next in my life. Well, let me tell you this…I am 26 years old and I don’t know what I am going to do with the rest of my life. And that’s okay. I’ll let you know when I figure it out. :)
So, to all of those who are figuring out what to do in life (myself included), just know that it takes time and that you can do it. It’ll take a lot of hard work to get where you want to go, but if you can work through all of life’s obstacles, it will be worth it and oh so wonderful….yea, I’m giving a pep talk. Mostly to myself, but perhaps it will help someone else out there too.
Thanks for reading this post. I know it wasn’t the most creative one, but maybe the Lizzie McGuire lyrics got you humming its tune? You’re welcome. :)
Peace + love, Jaclyn
