Hello kitty cats! Today I bring you the Murder Mystery Party I threw this year! Wohoo! Last year’s party was pretty fun, but this year’s party was totally rad (see what I did there?)! It was great having it in our house surrounded by awesome friends. This year’s theme was 80’s Prom, so bring in the big hair, big sleeves, and neon colors! I handmade these funky colorful garlands to bring a little festivity to it.
Sweet 80s music playing on the record player all night.
This year I thought I would try this white board check off list. So when each person was done with their objectives, they would go check it off next to their name and once all the names were checked off, I knew we could move on to the next part of the party. It worked out really well!
One of the food tables.
Mmm, rainbow fruit ka-bobs!
Made these for the photobooth we had later in the evening.
Before we began the party I always like to take a big group photo while everyone is freshly dolled up. Here’s this years bodacious group!!
Caitlin and Aaron’s characters on their “first date.” Awwwwwkward pose. ;)
Karen and Becky working on their first objectives.
“For a good time, call 867-5309”
The envied King + Queen’s Crowns and Sashes.
Prom Court! Who’s gonna be the King + Queen??
Bobby Backer and Dolly Dancer!
Your Prom King + Queen.
But wait!!! Someone murdered the Prom King! Oh no!!
Round two: investigations! (and dancing, chatting, eating) :)
Nooooo! It was Becky’s character! All she wanted was to get her boyfriend into the same college as she.
After taking Becky to jail, we had our awards! lol. Karen figured out who the murder was and she received a certificate and VHS of Dirty Dancing.
Alex won best drama queen and a VHS of Indiana Jones.
Matt won most money (thru bribes of course!) and a VHS of Top Gun.
Caitlin won best dressed and a VHS of Flashdance.
I love throwing these parties every year. It’s better than a normal Halloween Party. Thank you to my friends who came and had a good time and as always, thanks to my sister, Angela, who threw the very first Murder Mystery Party back in 2010. I can’t believe I’ve done 6 of these parties. Yay! Can’t wait for next year!
Peach + love, Jaclyn
