Hey there kitty cats! I’m back with Day 2 of our Portland trip. Check out the Travel tag for more posts about our Portland Trip. Also check out my Instagram for little insights from the trip too. Now onto Day 2!
After getting ready at the hotel and having delicious waffles we drove to Burnside Street in Portland and made our way to Powell’s the city of books! This place was huge! So. Many. Books.
Kisses and books.
And Travis wanting every photo of him to look like he was stealing books. ha!
I carried around this basket around to hold my bag, jacket, and books that I found.
There were color coded rooms/floors for you to more easily find what you were looking for and I found my way up to the 3rd floor where the art books were.
I loved this section the most. Painting books, calligraphy books, all the books!!
After an hour or so in Powell’s we were hungry for lunch and made our way to one restaurant, only to realize they didn’t have vegan/gluten free options for us. But with the help of our awesome cellular devices, Chelsea found a place called Veggie Grill. And guys….this place is AMAZING!! We ate there three times while on our trip. ha!
After lunch we decided to walk around downtown a bit.
Chelsea being adorkable and always making me laugh.
You’ll notice a lot of shoe photos in the posts, but that’s only because it makes me feel grounded to wherever I visit and is a memory time travel for me. :)
Portland, the city of roses.
We found some neat shops to duck into whenever it was drizzling, but this particular day it cleared up in the afternoon and we had some blue skies. That was unexpected and welcomed. :)
I loved all the murals we drove past. So much art was around Portland and that’s one of the reasons I fell in love with it.
After a lot of walking we drove across the river to visit Grand Market Place.
One of the coolest things that happened while in GMP wasn’t the booths but a phone call I got from my sister saying she found out the gender of her baby….it’s another boy!! Yipee! I’m going to have another nephew. So stinking excited and loved that she was too excited to wait to tell me. Love you Angela!
After GMP, we walked across the street to Guardian Games where the boys were going to play Magic the Gathering.
Us girls looked around this gigantic store full of board games and geeky stuff then headed out to go to Purrington’s, only to find out we couldn’t get in (but we did get to go to it the next day). So instead we walked to get ourselves some food and found The Whole Bowl.
After our food was made, we realized the store didn’t have anywhere to sit, so we sat outside! ha! It was a bit chilly, but having a yummy warm bowl of goodness and a good friend to chat with, it wasn’t so bad. :)
We walked back to our car and drove back to GG to meet up with the boys. They were still playing MTG, so we sat down and played two rounds of a fun game called Takenoko. Then we waited on the boys to finish and headed back to the hotel. We were all pretty exhausted after a long, but amazingly fun, day.
Peace + love, Jaclyn
Rain meter: a little bit in the morning, then blue skies in the afternoon.
