We started the day by sleeping in just a bit before getting ready for the day. Once ready, we headed out the door and went to Beaverton to a Japanese Grocery Store to look for a specific planner for T. He had looked online for one and saw that there was a store to buy it in Oregon and figured to save on shipping & handling, he’d get it while we were there. Sadly, the store didn’t carry it anymore. Lame. But we did find some other cool things to look at and buy. lol.
Afterwards we made our way downtown to Voodoo Doughnut for our morning snack.
We waited in a long line for 20-30 minutes before making our way inside to the weird and wacky donut shop.
Once up at the front I bought one vegan donut for $1.50, but the sweet girl at the register gave me two saying, “You’ve waited through this long line for one donut, so I gave you two.” So awesome!
We then drove to Alberta street where there were many shops and restaurants. But we were there for Bake to Eden Bakery for their vegan and gluten free baked goods!
T and I got a couple of yummies to take on the road with us. We got a pie, a pizza scone, and a tiny loaf of banana bread. Yummmm!
All of the murals there are so pretty and uplifing!
The coolest mural was this one. Chelsea and Travis love The Decemberists and geeked out when they saw their mural!
Driving to Forest Park.
Our first hike of the trip in nature.
We hiked for about an hour taking in all the greenery, walking in mud, chatting about life and zombies. What? We like Walking Dead and a marathon of the whole season was playing on our hotel tv. :)
Going on this trip was great for our friendship. I love this gal very much and had a fantablulous time with her.
Sigh. Love the rain.
Even in Portland we love us some Me Like Bees! (playing their song, rolodex, in the car if you can see that in the photo). We drove to another Veggie Grill (in Beaverton because it was closest to us) to eat. I seriously love that place, I kept saying, “This is a franchise. We need this in Wichita.” haha! We also went to another Powell’s to kill some time before headed back downtown for Purringtons.
That evening we got a reservation at Purringtons Cat Lounge and got to snuggle with some kitty cats.
This little lady is blind, but she still loved being petted and loved on.
This place was so cool! I loved that we got to hang out with some cats since I missed my kitties.
After hanging with some cool cats we went to Pips & Bounce and played ping pong!
We did boys v girls and had a lot of fun. We were laughing so hard at how poorly we did, but got in a groove and got better as we played. There was no clear winner, but I’m just gonna say us girls won. ;)
Play. That’s a good motto to have in life.
We grabbed some grub before heading back to Hotel to eat, wrote on the postcards I bought, and watched Walking Dead before drifting off to sleep.
Peace + love, Jaclyn
Rain meter: drizzles off and on during the morning/afternoon, then a heavier drizzle/rain in the evening.
